Our officers have a responsibility to investigate community safety incidents, environmental enforcement issues, anti-social behaviour and housing enforcement issues. We complete annual Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) for all our CCTV operations and publish on this page. In special circumstances, we will release footage to the police, solicitors and statutory authorities with powers to prosecute such as Trading Standards.Īll of our CCTV Control Centre staff are police vetted and undergo regular training on the use of CCTV, data protection and safeguarding. Information and images captured by our CCTV cameras are protected under the Data Protection Act 2018. Our CCTV Code of Practice regulates the operation of our CCTV systems and details how it will be used by the council, employers, contractors, and accessed by law enforcement agencies. We operate in strict accordance with the Surveillance Camera Commissioner's Code of Practice. Recordings are retained for 31 days unless a request is received to retain footage for an incident. Images are recorded 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. We operate CCTV at the following Council sites: CCTV at these locations provides security for our staff and visitors. Our buildings and sites have monitored CCTV linked to our dedicated CCTV Control Centre. These reports include the number and types of incidents we monitor, number of reviews we complete for investigations and number of arrests supported. We produce annual reports to show the use of public space CCTV. In addition to crime prevention our CCTV is used to help detect and support vulnerable people such people who are missing or may self-harm. Our dedicated CCTV Control Centre monitors and records footage from our camera network With direct communications links to the police and other agencies we used CCTV to prevent and detect incidents of crime, public disorder, anti-social behaviour, theft and more. We operate public space CCTV at locations across West Lindsey. Closed circuit television (CCTV) is used to prevent and detect crime, provide recorded footage for prosecutions and support the safeguarding of vulnerable people.
